Our Story

Millbank Flower Farm: Growing Happiness, One Bloom at a Time

Nestled in the small village of Millbank, Ontario, our family has lovingly maintained our cherished farm for over 30 years. Our journey took an unexpected turn in January 2019 when our beloved mother passed away suddenly, reshaping our family dynamics and leaving our father heartbroken. As sisters with our own families and careers, we found ourselves taking on the responsibility of caring for Dad and the farm, visiting every week to ensure everything was in order.

During these visits, we began documenting our experiences and efforts to bring joy to our father’s life, inadvertently creating what would become known as the “Kim and Penny Show.” As we spent more time at the farm, we started cleaning up, building raised beds, tilling old ones, and planting a variety of vegetables and flowers. To our delight, we discovered a newfound passion for farming, and our father’s spirits lifted with our presence.

This labor of love not only healed our hearts but also brought us closer together. Witnessing the profound impact of growing and selling flowers on our community was a revelation. The joy and happiness our blooms brought to others sparked a new journey for us.

Through our hard work and dedication, we continue to spread happiness, one bloom at a time.

Our Story

Our folks live in a small village called Millbank, Ontario on a small farm right in the town. They have maintained this for over 30 years.

In January 2019, our beautiful mom passed away suddenly. This changed our family dynamics. Our father was as you can imagine quite lonely without our mom.  We each have families and careers and suddenly we were going to the farm every week checking on dad. We were in charge of more responsibility.

To say it was an eye opener is mild.  Two sisters in charge of two properties, taking care of our dad and our own worlds.  We would take video to record just what was on our plates and how we are going to deal with this. We would try  to make our dad laugh to cheer him up.

This became the beginning of the Kim and Penny show.  That’s a whole other topic.

As we continued to spend time at the farm and with dad we started cleaning up and began building raised beds, tilling old ones, planting vegetables and flowers. We soon realized we loved it, our dad loved us being there, but more importantly the experience we had reconnecting through this sad and lonely time was starting to heal our souls.  It’s unbelievable to grow something and sell it and see how many people it affects.  Growing happiness.  That was a huge eureka moment.

A new journey has started,  we are growing flowers to sell to local florists, grocery stores and markets as well as the public.
